Liposuction - Laser Body Sculpting
Liposuction is a procedure designed to remove excess fat deposits. These deposits can be almost anywhere on the body. The ideal candidate for liposuction is a person of normal weight with one or several areas of excess fat deposits that cannot be eliminated despite optimal diet and exercise. Clinically obese patients are not good candidates for liposuction, though patients that are moderately overweight can be benefited.
Liposuction surgery has been available for approximately 25 years. Dr. Sherwood Baxt has continued to refine techniques even though there has been no significant change in the procedure for a long time. In general, traditional liposuction has been very successful over the years, however, we all know about the longer recuperation and bruising with traditional liposuction. The surgery also needed to be performed under some form of anesthesia.
The first dramatic change came with the introduction of the SmartLipo™. We were the first in New Jersey and one of the first in America to offer the SmartLipo™ and now have probably one of the largest series of treated patients. The significant improvement to the original traditional liposuction is mainly skin tightening. Soon after, Dr Baxt offered his patients the SmartLipo MPX™. It combines 2 wavelengths, 1064nm and the 1320nm, for optimal skin tightening and fat removal. Now we offer the SmartLipo Triplex™ (3 wavelengths) and the ability to offer select patients “LOCAL” anesthesia or twilight anesthesia if the patient so wishes.

SmartLipo Triplex™ for Axillary Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)
Many years ago an effective method of treating axillary hyperhidrosis was superficial liposuction to try to physically remove the sweat glands, but now we are combining liposuction with the SmartLipo Triplex giving our patients a much more reliable result.It has become our standard technique for liposuction. By using this tiny fiber in the layer just beneath the skin in the armpit, we can heat up the fat cells enough to destroy them along with the sweat glands. This highly innovative technique is performed on an outpatient basis under a local anesthesia and only takes 30 minutes.
